This program is all intervention to rehabilitate adults with stroke or brain injury with cognitive and linguistic processes ranging from sustained attention toward executive functioning skills. After this course you will return to work with a multitude of new, real-life, cognitive-centered activities. The interventions presented are designed for short programs and can be created on-site with minimal preparation or cost. The multiple strategies presented can be used by clients or their family members for improved outcomes. If you work with clients at a basic skill level to emerging higher levels of independence, this course will position you to work with them and their family on a whole new level across the cognitive hierarchy using real-life activities.

  • Functional documentation and reimbursement will be discussed.
  • Opportunities on how to build cooperative programming across disciplines will be presented.
  • Functional screening techniques that determine how much support a client needs to follow through on goal-directed tasks will also be presented.
    This is a high energy course that will inspire new programming regardless of years of experience.

Program also includes:

  • Higher-level activities for clients with limited hobbies or household responsibilities.
  • “Functional themes” to elicit team member support.
  • Make-and-take time for program and strategy development!

Learning Outcomes

As a result of this program, participants will demonstrate the ability to:

  • List several functional, basic skill and higher level activities for home and community independence.
  • Define 30 or more strategies for clients or family members to implement.
  • Summarize functional documentation, goals and reimbursement strategies.
  • Apply techniques for facilitating insight and awareness into deficits
